Silver Pines Cattery

We have a small in-home cattery, raising 3-4 litters of ragdolls a year. They are raised side by side with our pups, handled by kids and adults, and well socialized to a home environment. Our goal is to provide healthy, beautiful, friendly, Ragdoll kittens that make wonderful companions for many years to come.

Our kittens are priced at $1500. There is a $50 deposit to join a waitlist, $150 when kittens are born and the balance due at pickup. Microchipping is optional for an additional $75 and includes a lifetime registration. Kittens will come with a one year congenital health guarantee, first shots, dewormed, and include a state health certificate and 30 days of insurance through Trupanion.

Going Home:

Before you pick up your kitten, set up a separate room for them with all of their supplies. A bedroom or bathroom that won’t be used by other pets works perfectly and keeps them separated for a few days. Let your kitten adjust to the new family & environment then you can start introducing them to other family pets. Swapping smells is a great place to start. Swapping beds, blankets, or towels with the animals scents on them gets them acquainted before meeting face to face. After a few days, you can start introducing them slowly. Monitor the animals closely and move slower if there are any negative interactions. Don’t worry if your fur family doesn’t get along immediately. Give them time. They will be best friends before you know it!

Our kittens are started on Pretty Litter, which can be found on our Amazon storefront. It is a crystalized litter designed to indicate changes in health. One bag will last a month and is non clumping. Simply scoop the poop and mix the crystals. The crystals change color in the presence of crystals, high blood sugar, or other potential illnesses. They have not tried clumping or wood litter so we recommend starting with at least a bag to avoid any confusion or aversion when transitioning litter training to your house. 

 

 

Diet:

Ragdolls need a high protein diet. We start our kittens on TLC, NuVet feline powder, and Tikki Kitten Mousse, and recommend a transition from this mousse around 10-12 weeks to a mix of dry, wet & raw. There are many canned and raw foods out there, but it is important to make sure your kitten is getting a good source of hydrated food to help them avoid urinary crystals. If you decide to feed your kitty some raw meat, you can purchase a meat mix for pets at most butcher shops.

Grooming:

Ragdolls do need to be groomed on a regular basis. They should be brushed a few times every week and bathed every few months. Nail clipping depends on your preference. You can certainly trim their claws but most cats do this naturally with scratching posts. Having scratching posts/cat trees will also protect your furniture! If you have a polydactyl, you at least need to keep their extra claws trimmed. Otherwise, you risk them curling into the cat's paw pad.

We are a closed cattery. We do not offer outside stud service for other catteries. For health and safety concerns for our kittens, we do not allow casual visits to our home. If you are purchasing one of our own kittens, the litter must be eight weeks or older. Pick day is the same day your kitten goes home. You will be able to reserve your gender preference when you place your $150 deposit after kittens are born and sexed. Pick up day will be scheduled in order of deposit placed. Visitors must be willing to wash/sanitize their hands upon arrival and we do not allow any outside pets in our home. Only after a deposit has been made do we allow visits to choose or to pick up a kitten and visits need to be scheduled ahead of time. This is to avoid visitors who are simply looking to see the kittens and have no intention of purchasing. We are not a petting zoo or a pet shop. Young kittens are susceptible to germs/illness and we want to keep their exposure to a minimum.
